The Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) and STAR Assessments are progress monitoring tests administered three times per year to track your student’s progress in learning the Benchmarks of Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) Standards throughout this school year. The purpose of this letter is to inform you that your student will participate in the first administration (PM1) of the Grade K-5 Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST/STAR) ELA Reading and Mathematics assessments on:

STAR (FAST) Assessments:
Second Grade: Aug. 21st – 22nd (STAR Reading and Math Assessments)
First Grade: Aug. 26th – 27th (STAR Reading/STAR Early Literacy and Math Assessments)
Kindergarten: Sometime between Aug. 20th – Sept. 30th. Your student’s teacher will communicate their testing dates with you.

Progress Learning – 5th Science:
Fifth Grade: Aug. 28th

FAST Assessments:
Third Grade: Sept. 4th (ELA) – 5th (Math)
Fourth Grade: Sept. 8th (ELA) – 9th (Math)
Fifth Grade: Sept. 10th (ELA) & 11th (Math)

Your student’s results from PM1 are for informational purposes only, and you will be provided with information about how to access the results after testing is completed.

Communications Update for the 2025-2026: APP TO DOWNLOAD...see flyer for info! For the 25-26 school year, we will be using a district app for alerts, rooms 2-way communication with teachers, and website resources. We encourage you to download the SRCDS app for all communication needs. This will be your "one stop shop" for all things SRCDS! All custodial contact information from FOCUS will be synced as we transition to our new platform. Important Items to Note: Calls will come from your child's school or the district number (850-983-5150). Texts will come from 9099. Emails will come from your child's principal (school message) or PIO@santarosa.k12.fl.us (district message). We encourage families to remain opted in for notifications as this includes crisis communication, school closures, or other emergency alerts. If you need to change/update your contact information or notification preferences, this is done in the FOCUS Parent Portal. Our data from FOCUS syncs each night with our communication app.
